Graduate Studies: Middle East Public History

Bringing the history of the Middle East to the world.

Withers Hall during autumn.

Whether your goal is a career in academia, cultural institutions, or the public humanities, this program will prepare you to shape how Middle East history is researched, taught, and shared with the world.

We’re thrilled to be a part of NC State’s groundbreaking graduate program in Middle East Public History — the first of its kind in the world. Combining rigorous training in Middle East history with hands-on experience in public history, digital humanities, and archival work, this innovative program has students working closely with the Khayrallah Center and gaining direct, applicable history experience with us during their education.

As of September 2025, we have begun recruiting for the Fall 2026 class of MA and PhD students, with applications due on January 15, 2026. We will be holding a webinar to discuss the unique opportunities offered to students in the program, including funded internships at the Khayrallah Center for Lebanese Diaspora Studies and the competitive funding and mentorship that set our program apart.
