Our video at AHA in New Orleans!

As proud collaborators with NC State University’s Department of Public History, the Project was excited to be featured in their short video that showed at this year’s American Historical Association meeting in New Orleans, LA. The video explored the field of public history and used the Project as a chief illustration of the great working being accomplished to engage a variety of audiences. As Craig Friend, Director of the Public History Department remarked,

Since the 1970s, public history has really been preparing academically trained historians to go into historic sites, museums, historic preservation, other venues where they have a direct impact on how history is being employed. In many ways, it has evolved so that we try to inspire audiences to act civically minded as a result of their interaction with that history, to find relevance in that history, and to take it into their own communities and act upon it.

Since 2011, we have worked with undergraduate and graduate students from several universities in NC, professors, faculty, staff and community volunteers to develop every aspect of this Project. We can’t do it without you! Thank you to WebsEdge Education for the production of this video.
