Museum Update 2: Gaming!

Mandy is currently developing a game centered around the Lebanese peddler experience within North Carolina at the beginning of the 20th century. Additionally, Mandy is working directly with NC Museum of History staff in creating fun 1 hour workshops for the Raleigh community. “History Corner,” is a program for ages 6-9, where children will examine artifacts, listen to a story, and create a unique craft centered around the Cedars in the Pines exhibit. “History Hunters,” is program designed for ages 10-13. These young curators will explore the exhibit gallery, play an interactive game, and create a craft to take home!

A bit more about Mandy:

Mandy Benter is a first year Master’s candidate within North Carolina State’s Public History Program. Her interests include collections management and exhibit research/conceptual design. She also has experience in the museum education field; she has worked at the Wisconsin Veterans Museum in Madison, WI and the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience in Utica, MS. After years of creating interactive children’s exhibit guides and “traveling trunk” programs, she is excited to contribute to the Khayrallah Program for Lebanese-American Studies and the upcoming, Cedars in the Pines, exhibit. She will primarily work as Educational Programming Liaison.
