Congratulations Akram!

Last week, North Carolina State University announced that 3 faculty from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences (CHASS) were named among the 20 University Faculty Scholars for this year. And guess who was named? Dr. Akram Khater, the wonderful Director of The Lebanese in North Carolina Project! The announcement cites all that he does with this Project as well as his work as Director of the Middle East Studies Program at the university. Oh, and his own research! Here is what the Office of the Provost says about the scholars:

The University Faculty Scholars Program, established in 2012 by Chancellor Woodson to recognize and reward emerging academic leaders among our faculty, identifies approximately twenty (20) tenured or tenure-track faculty scholars each year.

Akram will receive funding over 5 years for his academic pursuits, which I’m sure the community will find interesting! This is a prestigious award and we congratulate Akram for his continual hard work in everything he does and passion towards educating North Carolinians (and a global audience) on topics of the Middle East, gender, politics and, of course, the Lebanese diaspora in the American South.
